Racing &
Season

Racing is optional. Every athlete is welcome to ride, learn, volunteer, encourage teammates, and be part of the team whether or not they compete.

The Season

A Season Built for Growth

Cross Timbers MTB offers a season of regular practices, practice races, NICA race weekends, and end-of-season activities.

The team may participate in DFW Series practice races — a great way for athletes to learn race-day routines, build confidence, and try competition in a supportive setting before the full NICA season.

Race Weekends

NICA Race Weekends

NICA race weekends are two-day events. Athletes compete in their scheduled division, supported by teammates, coaches, families, and volunteers.

Saturday
Pre-Ride

Athletes preview the course, prepare equipment, and learn race-day logistics. This is also a great time for families to walk the course and understand what race day will look like.

Many families camp on-site Saturday night — it's part of the race weekend culture and a great way to bond with teammates before the big day.

Sunday
Race Day

Riders compete in their scheduled division, supported by teammates, coaches, families, and volunteers. NICA organizes middle-school and high-school divisions. Coaches will help athletes and families understand division placement and race expectations.
